However, modern research now shows that the story is much broader \u2014 and much more serious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elevated insulin levels often begin long before glucose moves outside the reference range. The body may compensate for years while, in the background, the following gradually develop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/formulazdravlja.com\/en\/sindrom-hronicnog-umora\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/formulazdravlja.com\/sr\/sindrom-hronicnog-umora\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chronic fatigue,<\/a>,\u00a0 <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>weight gain,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fatty liver,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>increased hunger and sugar cravings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>inflammation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sleep disturbances,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/formulazdravlja.com\/en\/insulinska-rezistencija-i-policisticni-jajnici\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/formulazdravlja.com\/sr\/insulinska-rezistencija-i-policisticni-jajnici\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hormonal imbalance<\/a>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and even increased cardiovascular risk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is insulin resistance, really?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Insulin is a hormone that allows glucose from the bloodstream to enter cells and be used for energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When cells become less sensitive to insulin, the pancreas starts producing larger amounts of this hormone in order to keep blood sugar under control. This condition is called insulin resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is that chronically elevated insulin affects much more than glucose alone. It also influences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>fat storage,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>appetite,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>inflammation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>blood vessels,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hormones,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>brain function,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>energy levels,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and even biological aging.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ultra-processed foods,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>excessive intake of refined carbohydrates,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>physical inactivity,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>chronic stress,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>poor sleep,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>excess visceral fat,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>frequent snacking throughout the day,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and disrupted circadian rhythm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a result, the body enters a state of constant metabolic overload.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The problem is not only what we eat \u2014 but also how we live<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most important messages of modern research is that insulin resistance is not simply a \u201cdiet problem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The body does not respond only to calories \u2014 it also responds to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>stress,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pace of life,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a
